Camp Course Descriptions

Campers attend 4 Different Courses each day throughout the week!

7 Hour Movie Challenge

Have you ever thought of becoming a filmmaker, actor, or director?  Do you like to make videos on your phone or iPod?  In this film workshop, you'll work in groups to write an original story by creating a story spine.  After the story is written, your group will use interactive storyboard software to visualize and film your story.  You'll learn how to edit the video using video editing software, and create an original musical score.  Finally, you'll watch each other's films and choose the winner of the movie challenge!  You will get to bring home a copy of your film to show your family and friends!

Airbrush Adventures - Registration Closed

Do you enjoy painting? Are you creative?  Learn how to airbrush like the professionals.  Use the airbrushes professional car restoration technicians use, on monster trucks and race cars, to create amazing designs.  While in this camp, you will work in the Auto Collision shop on an airbrush project that will really impress your friends and family.  You don't have to be an artist.  Once you learn the techniques of airbrushing, you can paint almost anything!

Animal Exploration

Are you interested in becoming a Veterinarian or a Veterinary Technician?  Or, do you just love animals and want to learn more about them?  We have the camp for you!  In this camp, you'll learn how veterinarians care for animals, different types of service animals and you'll learn how to make treats your own animals will love!  We will work with live animals in class, and learn the proper way to handle them.

Camp Culinary - Registration Closed

Calling all campers!  Come join us for another fun filled week in Camp Culinary, as you learn what it's like to work in a professional kitchen.  You'll spend the week learning to make delicious, camper friendly dishes.  The menu will include: lasagna rolls, pasta & potato salad, Camper friendly BBQ cook out, appetizers including Jalapeno poppers and pizza logs.  Potato skins and more! Finish off the works with chicken finger and steak hoagies.  You will learn to cook safely in a state of the art kitchen, develop independence, and WOW your family with delicious creations.

Express Yourself

Have you ever thought of becoming a hair stylist or a makeup artist?  Maybe you just want to learn how to pamper yourself, your friends and your family?  Experience a true spa and salon atmosphere.  Campers will practice shampooing, braiding, simple up-dos, basic makeup, facials, and nails.  It's a week of fun and relaxation you'll never forget!

Fashion Forward

Predicting the next popular fashion style is fun and exciting!  Join us as we create mood boards and trend forecasts complete with a fashion illustrations displaying your own fashion designs.  We will also take a look at top designer fashion shows following fashion runway trends across the globe. Together we will create some do it yourself sewing projects inspired by your trend predictions making you a fashion trend setter!

Fun with Cake Decor

This summer baking campers will observe and play with a variety of cake decorating materials. They will have a chance to learn from real pastry chefs and cake decorators in the art of using buttercream, fondant, gum paste and modeling chocolate.  Campers will make several projects that they can take home and show off to friends and family.  This is your chance to play and learn about all the cool ways to decorate baked goods!

Junior Police Academy

Here's your chance to learn what it takes to become a police officer.  You will learn many of the same skills that are taught in a real academy including physical fitness requirements, self-defense tactics and even how to make a misdemeanor or felony arrest!  Other topics that will be included in this camp are radio communications, composite sketching, criminal investigation, fingerprinting and handcuffing.  A local police agency will also be in to give a presentation and answer your questions.  If you've ever thought of a career in law enforcement, this is the camp for you!

Minecraft Madness

Come and explore the world of Minecraft with us!  Junior Minecrafters will have tons of fun as they learn the basics of the world famous game.  We'll learn about the different game modes, how to craft some crazy contraptions, and even build an awesome obstacle course!  Learn the fundamentals of video game design as you create epic worlds with the help of your fellow campers.  Spawn into the curious world of Minecraft!

Pipe Dreams

Be cool!  Stay cool!  Learn how to make your own water cooling devices using copper and plastic pipe.  You will learn how to solder, measure, design and assemble your own personal sprinkler system.  Bring it home and use it the rest of the summer!

Sports Conditioning and Sports Science

This camp will give you the knowledge and practice to help you reach your goals and improve your personal fitness. It can make you a better athlete for whichever sport you play, while also focusing on teamwork, technique, and strategy.   We will focus on health related skills such as speed, coordination, balance, reaction, and power.  You will try out all the drills and exercises first hand, and have fun with lots of challenging games. Fitness and fun is always a winning combination!

Video Game Design

Do you love to play video games?  Do you think it would be cool to make your own?  Sign up for this fun and interactive camp.  You will learn how to use sprites and objects to create characters and design your very own video game.  This camp will lead you through the initial steps of designing a game, as well as applying basic coding principles to your games.  Games will differ this year with the creation of the 1945 Air Warrior scrolling game, the Maze strategy game, and the Asteroids action game.

Questions and Answers
A. Camp runs from 8:30 until 3:30 each day.  Students may be dropped off as early at 8:00 am and MUST be picked up by 3:30 pm. Between 8:00 - 8:30 am, all campers will sign in, enjoy a light breakfast (ex: donuts and juice), and be directed to their first course.  Campers will particiapte in 4 courses daily throughout the week. Each course will run for 90 minutes each day, Monday though Friday.

A. $200 for the week. Erie 1 BOCES employees, please call for special pricing.
A. No.  All campers are expected to bring their own lunch.  Lunch is NOT available for purchase.

A. Camp sessions run from 8:30 am until 3:30 pm.  Campers can be dropped off as early as 8:00 am and MUST be picked up by 3:30 pm.

A. For scheduling purposes, we are only allowing whole day registrations.

A. Campers should be entering 6th, 7th, 8th, or 9th grade in September 2017.
